Our client is a banking and financial services organization. Its international network expands through North America, Latin America and Europe.
 
 
Position Description


Markets and delivers Client’s products and services to high net worth individuals to expand and develop the existing client base. Responsible for the overall customer relationship and the management of related cross-selling and business development activities, such as credit, trusts, mortgages and insurance. The ideal candidate will be responsible for:
 
  • Provides guidance to less experienced Private Bankers and creates opportunities to develop their knowledge and experience levels.
  • Identifies opportunities to cross sell other company services such as portfolio management, personal holding companies and trusts, in connection with estate planning services, credit cards and all other client needs and will make recommendations to clients based on these opportunities. May identify new product opportunities.
  • Calls potential clients and existing clients to develop new business by promoting company services and products.  Employees of this level are specifically evaluated on both expanding existing client business and developing new business opportunities.
  • Based on expert knowledge, will be able to provide financial or banking advice to directly respond to the client’s questions.  Will consult with client on needs and financial investment requirements with the ability to provide decision-making functions.
  • Provides deposit-related services to clients as needed.
  • Identifies opportunities to meet the credit needs of clients seeking secured and unsecured loans for a variety of purposes, and refers them for appropriate approvals only in cases where the loan is in excess of their personal authority. 
  • May provide investment-related services (i.e., custody), which may involve the buying and selling, through the appropriate bank investment or trust area, of all financial instruments, as required. 
  • Researches account and transaction records to resolve basic discrepancies, answer questions, or provide documentation on client activities.  At this level, the employee should be able to provide an expert interpretive analysis and will make recommendations based on these findings.
  • Meets with clients both to maintain customer relationships and to initiate new business.  Will travel to clients as necessary.
  • Participate in formal training seminars and other skill development workshops as required.  Also participates in the annual goal setting and performance review process.
  • To maintain Bank’s internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators. Any failures to comply with the above should be reflected in year end performance assessments.
 
  • Decisions beyond assigned authority are referred to higher levels of management for approval.
  • Performs according to prescribed procedures.
 
Experience/Skills Required
 
To be successful in this position you must possess and effectively demonstrate the following skills:
 
  • Minimum of 10 years experience progressive experience in a top tier US/overseas private bank servicing the international or offshore markets. 
  • Minimum of a BA/BS degree in Business Administration or related degree.  Advanced degrees in Finance, Economics or related fields a plus.
  • NASD Series 7 License.  A thorough understanding of securities, insurance and credit products and NASD/SEC rules and regulations.
  • Bilingual – fluency in English and Spanish (verbal and written).
  • This is a multi-incumbent position.  Those filling this role are senior experienced private bankers and handle the largest and most complex accounts.  Must be a consistent producer and have a track record of generating new business. 
  • Highly developed communication skills for use in direct client contact and problem solving.  Ability to provide strong financial and statistical analysis.  A strong customer service focus is a must.  Requires close attention to detail and the ability to think creatively to solve problems.
  • In depth and expert knowledge with all bank products and all banking terminology, policies and procedures.
  • Excellent sales and relationship management skills.  Should possess existing, strong client contacts and the ability to manage a large book of business.
  • Proficiency with personal computers as well as pertinent mainframe systems and software packages.
