Our client is a rapidly growing food distributor that supplies cost competitive, superior quality food products through their own brand and also provides private labeling options.
 
Position Description
The Product Development Manager manages aspects of Quality Control and  new Product Development for our client's dry good's products.

Our client is a well established existing business with significant continued growth potential. This is a fantastic role for a hands-on person looking for a challenge and a great environment.  
 
The ideal candidate will be responsible for:
  • Ensuring the quality of all products that are being considered for the product portfolio
  • Sourcing new products that complement the company's existing product lines
  • Creating Food Specification Sheets (FSS) for all active products and ensure all information is complete. Maintain records of the FSS in the public server, under the QA folder
  • Reviewing new and existing labels for FDA compliance (Code of Federal Regulations)
  • Reporting to management all quality issues via the QA ISSUE REPORT
  • Reports any quality issues with the product (i.e. quality, packaging, label, shipping, etc) back to vendor and follow-up to ensure all issues are resolved
  • Assists the Global Sourcing team in all product development and product testing
  • Responsible for obtaining any lab test needed in a timely manner
  • Maintains records of all TPSS received, signed by the vendor
  • Reviews the Item Description For
  • Maintains records of all vendors’ certifications (i.e. BRC, IFS, HACCP, Kosher, etc)
 Experience/Skills Required
To be successful in this position you must possess and effectively demonstrate the following skills:
  • Highly ambitious and motivated self starter, able to work in a high growth company with strong passionate people
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Food Science or Related Field - Master’s Degree a Plus
  • Minimum of 3 years in a similar role, specifically dealing with dry grocery goods
  • Strong Communication skills
  • Bilingual (English, Spanish)
  • MS Office Suite
